So I haven’t updated in ages. This is never a good thing – it COULD mean that I am just busy, or that I’m having so much fun celebrating Lotte victories – but alas, this is not the case.
As I write this I am sitting in the stands at Kleenex Stadium Miyagi before the third game of a four game set with Rakuten. In the past two plus weeks Our Marines have won exactly three games, all at home. On the road, it’s been awful. Two on the road to Orix, three last weekend in Seibu Dome, and the first two of this set.
Both of the first two games were hard to take – sayonara losses when we had the lead in both games – but Saturday’s game was probably the harder of the two. Lotte fought hard against the great Iwakuma and held a 3-2 lead in the 9th when Kobayashi gave up the tying run and then the winning run. It looked like the awful losing streak in Sendai would be over but no, not that day.
Yesterday was another 9th inning lead and another 9th inning sayonara hit off Kobayashi, this time in the form of a three run, two out homer.
But today is different, right? It’s Penn vs Nagai, and with Nippon Ham tied with Lotte in third and Orix just 0.5 games back Our Marines need a win in the worst possible way. Let’s hope they get it!
